As we bring Season V to a close, the Rock Hill Symphony Orchestra is excited to present, “Aspects of Love”! The concert will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. with the Pre-Concert Talk beginning at 6:30 p.m. at South Pointe High School 801 Neely Road Rock Hill, South Carolina. Tickets can be purchased online at www.rhsymphony.orgor by calling the 24/7 ticket service hotline at 1-800-595-4849.
In tribute to Valentine’s Day, the evening will be a program touching on music’s unique power to express the many facets of love. One of the principal works for the concert will be the great comedic and tragic elements of Shakespearean romance in Mendelssohn’s Incidental music for A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The work will be a “reader’s theater” type production featuring live actors! The evening will also feature selections from Rossini, Strauss, Chausson and Tchaikovsky.
We are pleased to once again have as our guest conductor, Dr. Charles Jones Evans, Music Director/Conductor for the Long Bay Symphony. Dr. Evans brings a wealth of musical experience to the area, having held conducting positions with numerous professional orchestras and music festivals throughout the United States.
Additionally, we are proud to showcase as featured violin soloist, our very own Concertmaster, Dr. William Terwilliger. Dr. Terwilliger has enjoyed an exceptionally active and diverse career as soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, orchestral musician and teacher. Currently, he serves as Professor of Violin at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Terwilliger is known as a gifted and dedicated pedagogue and has given masterclasses throughout the U.S. and in Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa. Dr. Terwilliger received his doctorate from the Eastman School of Music where he studied with Zvi Zeitlin and Donald Weilerstein.
We would greatly appreciate your sharing this information with your friends, family, and those whom you feel it would be of interest! We look forward to seeing you there!
